Nepali nationals travelling to Sri Lanka for tourism can now obtain a free 30 day double entry Tourist Visa, effective from May 25, 2026. The move comes after the Sri Lankan government introduced a free Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) facility for citizens of 40 countries, including Nepal.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu confirmed the update and advised travellers to secure the ETA before arrival through the official website or by contacting the embassy directly.
The newly introduced free ETA replaces the previous paid visa system, making Sri Lanka a more affordable and accessible destination for Nepali travellers. The 30-day double entry visa also provides greater flexibility for tourists planning extended holidays or multi-destination trips.
With its tropical beaches, rich cultural heritage, wildlife experiences, and scenic landscapes, Sri Lanka is expected to attract more visitors from Nepal under the new visa policy.
