Central Nepal Tour itinerary

Welcome to Nepal!
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After check-in, you can relax at the hotel or take a short walk around the nearby streets of Thamel.

If your arrival time permits, your guide can also provide a brief introduction to the tour and explain the itinerary, transportation, and sightseeing arrangements. Overnight in Kathmandu.

After breakfast, begin your Kathmandu Valley sightseeing tour.

Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, a historic palace complex featuring traditional Newari architecture, temples, courtyards, and the Kumari Temple, home of the Living Goddess.

Continue to Swayambhunath Stupa, one of Kathmandu’s most important Buddhist sites. Located on a hilltop, the stupa offers panoramic views across Kathmandu Valley.

Continue to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Nepal. Explore its historic temples, royal courtyards, traditional houses, and famous Newari architecture.

In the afternoon, drive to Nagarkot, a peaceful hill station east of Kathmandu. In the evening, enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery and, weather permitting, a beautiful Himalayan sunset. Overnight in Nagarkot.

Wake early to enjoy the sunrise and panoramic mountain views from Nagarkot. On clear days, the Himalayan range provides a spectacular backdrop.

After breakfast, drive toward Chitwan National Park, approximately 6 hours depending on road and traffic conditions.

Upon arrival, check in to your hotel or jungle resort and enjoy some time to relax.

In the evening, experience a Tharu cultural performance, offering an introduction to the traditional music and dance of one of the indigenous communities of the Chitwan region. Overnight in Chitwan.

Today is dedicated to exploring the wildlife and natural environment of Chitwan National Park.

Depending on the season, local conditions, and the activities included in your selected package, your jungle experience may include:

  • Jeep safari inside the national park
  • Jungle walk and nature observation
  • Birdwatching
  • Canoe ride on the Rapti River
  • Visit to the Elephant Breeding Centre
  • Village and community experiences
  • Wildlife and nature interpretation with a local naturalist

Chitwan is famous for its greater one-horned rhinoceros, deer, monkeys, crocodiles, wild boar, birds, and many other species. The park is also home to the Bengal tiger, although sightings are rare and never guaranteed.

Enjoy a full day surrounded by forests, rivers, grasslands, and wildlife. Overnight in Chitwan.

After breakfast, drive to Pokhara, approximately 5–6 hours depending on road conditions.

Pokhara is one of Nepal’s most popular tourist destinations, known for its peaceful lakes, mountain scenery, caves, waterfalls, and relaxed lakeside atmosphere.

After checking in, enjoy a boat ride on Phewa Lake and visit Tal Barahi Temple, located on an island in the lake.

Continue sightseeing around Pokhara, including Seti River Gorge and Mahadev Cave. If time permits, you can also explore the vibrant Lakeside area in the evening. Overnight in Pokhara.

Wake early and drive to Sarangkot, one of the best viewpoints near Pokhara, for a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayas.

On a clear morning, enjoy panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Return to Pokhara for breakfast.

Later, you have two options for returning to Kathmandu:

Option 1 – By road: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu, approximately 6–7 hours depending on road and traffic conditions.

Option 2 – By flight: Take a short domestic flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu, approximately 25–30 minutes.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to your hotel. The evening is free for shopping, relaxing, or exploring Thamel. Overnight in Kathmandu.

We recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Lightweight and comfortable clothing
  • A warm layer or jacket for Nagarkot and Sarangkot mornings
  • Sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Personal toiletries and medication
  • Small daypack
  • Camera or smartphone
  • Rain jacket or umbrella during the monsoon season
  • Some Nepalese rupees for personal expenses

For the Chitwan jungle activities, neutral-colored, lightweight clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Best Time to Visit

The best seasons for the Central Nepal Tour are spring and autumn, when the weather is generally pleasant and mountain visibility is often excellent.

Spring – March to May

Spring brings warm temperatures, blooming flowers, and generally good conditions for sightseeing, wildlife activities, and mountain views.

Autumn – September to November

Autumn is one of the most popular seasons for traveling in Nepal. The weather is usually clear and comfortable, making it an excellent time for Himalayan views, sightseeing, and jungle activities.

Winter – December to February

Winter is also a good time for the tour. Mornings and evenings can be cold, especially in Nagarkot and Sarangkot, but daytime sightseeing is generally comfortable.

Monsoon – June to August

The monsoon season brings frequent rainfall to Nepal. Mountain views can be limited, and road journeys may take longer due to rain and road conditions. However, the tour can still be operated, and Chitwan remains an interesting destination during this period.
