The Millennium Trek, also known as the Mid-Hill Ridgeline Trek, is a community based trekking route in the hills of western Nepal. Developed and managed by local communities, the trail passes through more than 30 traditional villages in the districts of Tanahun and Syangja. The primary aim of the trek is to provide visitors with an authentic experience of rural Nepal through homestay accommodation while promoting sustainable tourism and supporting local livelihoods.
The Millennium trek trail offers a unique opportunity to explore the untouched beauty of Nepal’s mid-hills while experiencing the daily lives, traditions, and hospitality of local communities. The region is home to diverse ethnic groups, including Gurung, Magar, Brahmin, and Chhetri communities, whose cultures coexist harmoniously and enrich the trekking experience.
One of the major attractions of the Millennium Trek is the homestay experience, allowing trekkers to immerse themselves in local culture and traditions. Visitors can participate in cultural performances featuring traditional dances such as Ghatu, Kauda, Salaijo, Jhora, Thado Bhaka, and Sorathi.
The Millennium Trek is an easy and relaxing trek suitable for people of all ages with average fitness levels. Since the trail remains at relatively low elevations, altitude sickness is not a concern, making it an excellent choice for beginners, families, and travelers seeking a cultural trekking experience rather than a challenging mountain expedition.
After breakfast, drive approximately 22 km from Pokhara via Dulegaunda to Gachhepani. From Gachhepani, begin the trek to Rajasthal. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of villages such as Khairenitar, Bhimad, and Dulegaunda. Upon arrival in Rajasthal, visit the ruins of an ancient royal palace.
